Learn about us

The Arizona Alzheimer’s Consortium (AAC) is the nation’s leading model of statewide collaboration in Alzheimer’s disease research. Established in 1998, the Consortium capitalizes on its participating institutions’ complementary strengths in brain imaging computer science, genomics, the basic and cognitive neurosciences and clinical and neuropathology research to promote the scientific understanding and early detection of Alzheimer’s disease and find effective disease-stopping and prevention therapies. It also seeks to educate Arizona residents about Alzheimer’s disease, research progress in the state and the resources needed to help patients, families and professionals manage the disease. The Consortium is determined to find effective treatments to halt the progression and prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s disease without losing a generation.

Commit to End Alzheimer’s with a Specialty License Plate

In August 2020 a new specialty license plate supporting Alzheimer’s Awareness became available to Arizonans. The new plate design is available to available to everyone with a vehicle registered in Arizona.

Specialty plates are available online through ServiceArizona.com. Most cost $25 each year, with an additional $25 per year if the plate is personalized.

$17 of the fee supports research to promote the scientific understanding and early detection of Alzheimer’s disease and to educate Arizona residents about disease management.

In the Fiscal Year that ended June 30, the total statewide sales of specialty plates netted a new record of about $11.4 million for various causes and charities.

Specialty plates are authorized by the Arizona legislature and have been offered since 1989. Authorized plate designs complete a review by law enforcement and the Arizona Department of Transportation. In all, there are now 71 license plate options for Arizona motorists.
