Andrea Schmitt is Administrative Director of the NIA funded Alzheimer’s Disease Center and Grants Manager for Banner Research and Banner Sun Health Research Institute. She works closely with Dr. Eric Reiman, Director of the ADCC, to ensure the productivity, efficiency, organizational success, and fiscal / financial accountability of the Arizona Alzheimer´s Disease Core Center (ADCC). She is responsible for the inter-institutional contractual relationships between BSHRI and the ADCC consortium members, core and consortium institutions’ budgets, fiscal and administrative oversight of the entire grant including coordination with consortium institutions, and reporting to NIA. She prepares financial reports and contractual amendments and provides a lead role in preparing and coordinating annual progress reports and applications to the NIA.
Andrea, a graduate of Stony Brook University with a Bachelor of Science, has worked in Research Administration since 1998, including prior experience as a Sponsored Projects Coordinator at Stony Brook University in New York, and Sponsored Projects Officer at Arizona State University. She has been a Grants Manager at Banner Sun Health Research Institute since 2007 and Administrative Director of the ADCC since 2009.
