Sethuraman Panchanathan is a member of the electronic health steering committee appointed by the Governor of Arizona. He was a member of the Academic Working Group and an Affiliate faculty in the Phoenix campus of the University of Arizona Medical School. He is a co-founder of a start-up company MotionEase Inc. The flagship iCARE research project in his research center (CUbiC) focused on designing assistive technologies and accessible environments for individuals who are blind won the Governors Innovator of the Year-Academia Award in Nov. 2004. He has published over 300 papers in refereed journals and conferences and book chapters. He is the Editor-in-chief of the IEEE Multimedia Magazine and an associate editor of five other journals. He has chaired several conferences and workshops.
