William J. Burke

Dr. Burke received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska where he also completed an internship in Internal Medicine. He performed his residency in Psychiatry at Barnes Hospital and Washington University Medical School in St. Louis. He received additional post-graduate training at the Alzheimer Disease Research Center at Washington University while also studying psychiatric epidemiology.

Before coming to BAI, Dr Burke was the Anna O. Stake Professor of Psychiatry and the Vice-Chair for Research of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. He was also the Director of the Psychopharmacology Research Consortium at UNMC. Dr. Burke is a board-certified geriatric psychiatrist and has extensive experience in clinical trials.  His research interests include evaluation of potential new treatments for Alzheimer disease, delirium and depression.

He is a fellow of the American Geriatric Society and the American Psychiatric Association.  He has over 250 publications including scientific articles, book chapters and abstracts.   Dr. Burke has been repeatedly cited as a Castle Connolly “Top Doctor” and in “Best Doctors in America”.
